This week at the Cathedral, work is being undertaken to construct the rear wall behind the high altar. Those well acquainted with the Cathedral will know that this wall has long been a temporary structure made predominantly of corrugated iron. It was never fully completed. That is our next task within the Selwyn’s Vision project especially as we reach the point where the Selwyn Chapel needs to be physically attached to the Cathedral. We again have scaffolding up on the inside as the woodwork is removed (see below), and outside, a crane is used to position a steel beam to prepare the two buildings to be conjoined.
