This week has seen another momentous milestone in the Bishop Selwyn Chapel construction. The glass sliding doors for the Newmarket end of the chapel have arrived!
We believe these doors to be the largest of their kind in the country. There are 11 door panels (two fixed and nine movable) each close to 5 m in height. The doors span the total 12 m width of the Chapel.
The door system, designed by Panoramah in Switzerland, was fabricated in Portugal, brought to NZ and installed by Pivot Action of Australia, with the assistance of Woods Glass Ltd here in New Zealand. A truly global effort!
This door system will allow the Chapel to be opened completely to the garden, which will make the Bishop Selwyn Chapel a magnificent venue for weddings, concerts and events when it opens in 2016.
