The sliding doors commissioned

Another milestone this week in the Bishop Selwyn Chapel build with the commissioning of the sliding doors.  This was the first time they have been seen in their ‘closed’ position, and with the shrink wrap off and the scaffolding gone, a stunning view of the Chapel is seen.

The set of sliding doors, although enormous (the biggest in New Zealand), only take a matter of seconds to open. Because of their size, it is unsafe to open them manually, so they are remote controlled.
