Commissioning of Chapel lighting

This week Aspec has tested the interior and exterior lighting of the Bishop Selwyn Chapel. The results are wonderful!

St Mary’s Court Lighting

The reconfiguration of St Mary’s Court includes installation of new exterior lighting. A lighting plan has been designed by Light Works Ltd and ECC Lighting is generously supplying the lights.

The up-lights that light up the trees from the ground have been installed, as well as three lighting bollards to light the walkway.  Installation of all the lights will be completed in the New Year.

Kids Can Perform for Poverty

The first ever event in the new Cathedral saw hundreds of children from a number of schools across Auckland and some special guests come together to perform in a variety concert to raise money for Kids Can.  It was the first opportunity also to test the new sound and lighting systems to the full extent of their capabilities, which produced some breath-taking lighting effects and clear and audible sound.

The concert itself raised over $5,000 with the total still rising as more donation come in.  This is the first of many events to come, for which the Cathedral will be a real driving force in the community of Auckland.  For more photos of this stunning event, please see the Cathedral website:

New Lighting and Sound System for the Cathedral

The stage lighting and speakers for the Cathedral were previously attached to the underside of the bridge.  With the demolition of the bridge, a new sound system and lighting rig have been designed to replace the ones removed.  Kenderdine Electrical Ltd designed and installed the lighting truss which will tuck up into the ceiling cavity and be brought down via motorised controls when needed.  Intec Systems has designed the upgraded sound system and is seen here installing the new speakers high up on the columns.
